Happy Winter!!!! Well by the calendar we are in the first full day on teh winter solstice. I hear in Ireland the Gaelic sacrificed Guinness for the day – the last time they did by record was in 1745 – wow – that winter people were able to walk across teh rivers in the Great British Isles and this infant country was in a deep cold and snowy winter. Fable or truth – only winter shall know and bet telling.
What a way to ring in the best or second best next to summer season of all with a driving flooding rainstorm and 60* temperatures. The GW were smiling and happy. Well that is over so wah wah to you peeps. The cold front swings though today and pushes cold air into the region in time for the Great Xmas holiday. BOOYAHHHHHHHHHH!!

Major, major pattern change remains on track. This is the most anomalous Sudden Stratospheric Warming Event I can remember. It is happening with the MJO in phase 5, similar to the SSWE of February 2001.

We should watch the 28th-2nd time period. This is the “transitional” stage of the pattern change. But the pattern from January 3rd and onward looks terrific. It has the potential to last through January 20th and re-invigorate again for the entire month of February. That is when I think El Nino and the +PDO really takes over.
Big changes are coming. Significant storm(s) with high probability of precip being in the form of snow likely after January 3rd.

That is what we are looking at for the end of Dec through the end of January and then we have a weak Nino kicking in that will rock February . I always love a rocking February LOL!
