Peeps,

Who’s your DADDY now as pro mets were calling for snow showers and about 1-2” then at 5AM National Weather Service finally put up a Winter Weather Advisory for 1-4” for the NNJ and LHV area. Brings our seasonal snow totals to 14.25” for the year. AND it snow from 9:30AM till 4ish PM – HMMMM – who said such?? That’s right this guy writing this post!
Looking ahead 🙁
I hate to be the bearer of such news but my golly I was harping on a great February first two weeks and possibly beyond with multiple storm chances.
Just about everything went pooof!! I am so mad. Super Bowl Storm – gone, Tuesdays storm for a good front end snow and ice dump – diminished big time and the Thursday Feb 8th storm, well it is on life support at the moment. Can Tuesday change there is a possibility but SB storm peeps is absolutely nothing to write home about – snow showers/maybe light snow at night at best.
There is so much going on in the atmosphere – but more so with the sun. It was so quiet through the fall and we are heading to a solar minimum with spotless days and coronal holes a null – these sunspot and holes send if big YUUGGGEEE amount of heat and bombard our atmosphere that screw up our pattern royally. For the first 10 days of Jan. we had no activity with this from our sun and then the last 15 days it has been very active.
THAT RED on this chart = HIGH SUN ACTIVITY – UGGHHHH!!
Spotless Days over the years

SOLAR WIND SPARKS NORTHERN LIGHTS: For the second day in a row, Earth is inside a stream of solar wind blowing from a large hole in the sun’s atmosphere. Moving with speeds near 700 km/s, the electrified gas is buffeting Earth’s magnetic field and sparking bright auroras around the Arctic Circle. I will keep you updated but I am giving this winter about 10 more days to see if we can get into a snowy/stormy period from the Pacific tropical forcing signal that is percolating – if that does come to fruition then we may have a good stretch of winter going into March (Feb 12thish till March 8thish) if not then my friend I will be throwing in the towel.
Updates to come.
