MJO Rain
What does this mean you might be asking? The MJO index which tracks the convection in the tropics of the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific has a major influence at times on our weather here:
The warm phases in the winter are 4,5,6 and as you see we are in………….Phase 5 = warmth running though 6 and into 7 and then maybe 8 which are colder phases for us. So the MJO rain means phase 5 is warm and hence the 55* temps and rain today, adn lots of it.
IF all this rain was snow – fa get abut it peeps we’d be up to our necks or some who are vertically challenged (aka short!) over their heads!!
Now on the back side – soem are nice and some are not so nice LOL – get that back side?? Anyways, teh cold air will rush in and it will be herre for a while as the POLAR VORTEX will be paying us a visit. Remember I said that we’ll have soem extreme PV intrusions with the PV split earlier this month and last – watch the media jump all over my call, yes yuo heard it first here peeps!

That is what hey will call this and let me tell this PV means brutal nasty business for teh upper midewest to the Appalachians and to New England – us yes but maybe not as brutal. What does one think of brutal cold?
Even teh Penguins will be freezing!!

These are temps for midweek and into the 1st week of Feb – that groundhog may not want to ocme out of his hole – I sure as heck would not!!
And then some snow to possibly end the month:
That green means snow – now we just need 5 more days of this and we are good!!! LOL.
