“She is beasting and will cause havoc from the Gulf Coast through Gawgia (say it as I spell it please) Bulldog land, East Tennessee, NC and Kentucky with power outages galore and flooding – coastal and river!! The Appalachians are getting bombarded and it started last night as the plume of moisture went from Southern Fla to Quebec Canada!!!! over 1700 miles!!”
Reality:
She did just that and more. I cannot express to you the amount of devastation she inflicted on our fellow Americans in this land. The interior Appalachian Mountain Flooding in Tenn., NC, SC, and in and around Atlanta was…..”Biblical”. There are no other words. Towns were washed away in minutes, 40″ of rain fell in some parts, dozens have lost their lives presently with that number likely to increase, the infrastructure to these towns and cities in these interior mountain regions have been badly damaged to destroys, roads leading into cities of Johnson City, Ashville, Boone are impassable by washed out roads, bridges, debris and trees blocking all passage. The only way in and to many other areas is by air. Thank God two dams that were under duress did not fail as was feared. The water toppled the dam and was running around it besides over it. If those failed we would be talking hundreds dead, no I am not being dramatic but real. I traveled this area bringing my son to school at University of Tennessee and these canyon towns have a few roads in and out. Interstate 40 and 26 are shut down, massive sections washed away, mudslides cover the roads. They will be for some time until we get the ACOE = Army Core of Engineers in there to fix things. Brian Alberto where are you?? He is a civilian engineer who helped with the rebuild of NOLA and the tidal dam they constructed to save the city from a CAT 3 storm surge. Problem is this one was a CAT 4 of 16 feet plus that washed away towns as she came ashore in a sparsely populated region of the Big Bend in Florida.
Storm surges of the magnitude of CAT 1 and 2 were experienced from Ft Meyers and Naples Florida up through the east coast of Gawgia and South Carolina.

Winds: 107 mph……WHAT????? That is all I can find. Listen I am not being anti or contrarian but looking the data reported by weather stations and buoys near landfall and can only find this. That is CAT 2 winds. IF they were 130 mph sustained winds of 60 seconds or more with gusts to 150 as per CAT 4 category on the Safford Simpson scale not one roof on any home in an area as wide as 10-15 miles and 15-25 miles inland would be on a home unless it was clay tile.
The devastation is unthinkable but what is even worse is they could have another one next weekend if Mother Nature has her way!!

Mid October cross polar flow already?? Setting up for highs in mid to low 40’s if this comes to fruition. Big Ridge in the west and lots of cold building in Canada with all the blue low pressures. Builds the snowpack which is critical starting in mid to late October for winter prospects. Snow Royalty n Weenies you catching what Al Q is putting down??

Peeps, say a prayer for these folks effected by this beast we called Helene, her name will be retired forever with Matthew, Michael, Camile, Andrew etc.. Have faith in God and let him guide you each day and it will be fine.
Lastly, whatever you think is rough well, looking at what happened this past weekend it puts things into perspective. Folks lost thier homes, livelihoods and sadly lives.
Have agreat Sunday and we need the rain so we take what we get and we do not get upset!
