Happy Belated Summer

Summer came in 6 days ago and that day along with Father’s Day were the longest sunlight days of 2020. Sucks I know but the sun will set earlier and rise later as we move through the summer season. I hope you all enjoy the comfortable days so far despite a few hot and humid – 2-4 90* plus days for the NYC metro so far, folks we should be jumping for joy at this point even though it has been dry. If it were more normal precipitation those 90* days and overall temperature anomaly would be normal to below normal but instead it is about 1-2* above normal. The dryer air allows for nighttime temperatures to be normal.

Sun Quiet

Folks after an active period the sun is back to being quiet again. This is the driver of our being here on earth, our climate as well. It has been since the dawn of time of the great life sustainable rock hat is floating through space around this massive ball of fusion. So far 74% of the days have not had sun flares or activities. This disrupts the geomagnetism of our planet and causes cooling, earthquakes, volcanoes, droughts, famines, etc. All we have to do is look back at history to see this – there are no statues for the anarchists to rip down and try to cancel history (this is a total fascist, communist ideology. It happened learn from it so it never happens again!!!)

Thermosphere Climate Index – this is very cold and may have affects down the road on weather patterns if there is coupling with the stratosphere and then troposphere. God help us if that ever happens on a massive scale, we’ll be like the Woolly Mammoths who were frozen in place with food in  their mouths!!!
today: 2.44×1010 W Cold
Max: 49.4×1010 W Hot (10/1957)
Min: 2.05×1010 W Cold (02/2009)

Quakers and Puffers

It has been a very active period so far this month with numerous quakers and many puffers. SO why do we not hear of this but rather days of anarchy (riots)? Why almost glorify these folks as heroes when Big Momma is pissed and setting up this planet for some big natural disaster event? It sells and part of the powers that be.

Puffers yesterday

Ebeko (Paramushir Island): Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Tokyo (VAAC) issued the following report: ERUPTION AT 20200626/0542Z FL100 EXTD S REPORTED OBS VA DTG:26/0550Z
…25 Jun:
The volcano remains very active, producing frequent small to moderate ash emissions and intermittent larger vulcanian-type explosions.
One such eruption occurred yesterday and was observed by our friend and correspondent Leonid Kotenko from the local volcano observatory. It produced an ash column that rose almost vertically approx. 3000 m above the volcano’s summit and slowly drifted and dissipated in SW directions.
This type of activity has been fairly constant at Ebeko during the past years, although with significant fluctuations in intensity. Right now, it is in a rather elevated state apparently.

Asama (Honshu): The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that seismic activity has increased during the past days.
Since 20 June the seismic activity on the west flank of the volcano continues at fluctuating levels. On 24 and 25 June the seismic station records 59 and 69 volcano-tectonic earthquakes, respectively.

Semeru (East Java, Indonesia): (26 Jun) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Darwin (VAAC) issued the following report: VA REPORTED TO FL130 AT 25/2306Z MOV S OBS VA DTG:26/0030Z

Dukono (Halmahera): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Darwin warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 7000 ft (2100 m) altitude or flight level 070 and is moving at 10 kts in W direction.
The full report is as follows: CONTINUOUS A EMISSION TO FL070 OBS VA DTG:26/1104Z to 7000 ft (2100 m)

Lopevi (Vanuatu): The Vanuatu Meteorology and Geohazards Department (VMGD) reported that seismic unrest of the volcano continues at high levels. The activity is being observed in the summit crater.
Continuous emissions of gas and steam plumes occurred.

Popocatépetl (Central Mexico): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 19000 ft (5800 m) altitude or flight level 190 .
The full report is as follows: VA EM OBS IN SAT. to 19000 ft (5800 m)

Sangay (Ecuador): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Washington warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 20000 ft (6100 m) altitude or flight level 200 .
The full report is as follows: OCNL EM to 20000 ft (6100 m)

Reventador (Ecuador): (25 Jun) Volcanic Ash Advisory Center Washington (VAAC) issued the following report: VA NOT OBS.

Sabancaya (Peru): Explosive activity continues. Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) Buenos Aires warned about a volcanic ash plume that rose up to estimated 25000 ft (7600 m) altitude or flight level 250 .
The full report is as follows: continuous ash emissions to 25000 ft (7600 m)

Shakers: Yellow and Orange are a level 6 earthquake and higher on eh Richter Scale since the beginning of June. Two 7 or greater EQ’s!

EURO Upgrade

The European model is getting another upgrade and hopefully it will help it be a better model this upcoming fall and winter than it was in 2019 -20!

Page updated on: 25 Jun 2020

Description of the upgrade

This cycle includes changes in the treatment of observations and improvements in the data assimilation and to the model. Quintic vertical interpolation in the semi-Lagrangian advection scheme has been introduced as well as the inclusion of a better surface albedo climatology making use of more data from the MODIS instrument.

New Metrics of Tropical Cyclone (TC) “size” will supplement the existing forecasts of TC track and intensity. We encourage users of these BUFR data to test their decoding software, see New Tropical Cyclone Wind Radii product.

You got that lingo there chappy’s??? I did not think so. They are upgrading their climatological system to better gauge from observational equipment of the albedo affect (The lower the albedo, the more radiation from the Sun that gets absorbed by the planet, and temperatures will rise. If the albedo is higher, and the Earth is more reflective, more of the radiation is returned to space, and the planet cools. An example of this albedo effect is the snow temperature feedback. Winter 20-21?

Really AL Q it June 26, 2020. Well never too early for my Snow Misers, Winter Lovers (Love is so much better in the Winter!!)  and Snow Princess and Queen Ladies right?!! It looks to be like so:

Simo’s

To my best friend in work and one of my best friends in life Simo, Big Dog, Big Puppy is saying goodbye to Highlands after 32 years of service teaching and supervising Health, Phys Ed, Music, Foods and at one time Applied Tech (which was me). He allowed me to grow as a teacher and person with his full support of my ideas that were being squashed by my administration before this. He would call me out if he ever needed to and believe you me we had some discussions over the years. I will miss him greatly as we get back to school this year and for the following days I have left at Highlands. Good luck to Steve and Dina who will be riding into the sunset come September 1!!

Miss Mugsy – 9 years 8 months with our family

My final piece of this blog is my hardest and personal. Our beloved family dog who we called Miss Mugsy, a Cavachone – half Bichon, half King Charles Cavalier a beautiful mix of breeds – passed away tragically for us and those who knew her this Wednesday. She provided the most amazing intangibles of life – love, companionship, comfort, joy, friendship, care, kindness and protection (in her own way).  When we were sick she would lay by our side and lick us showing she cared – especially when I was fighting cancer and had surgery – she would not leave my side, unconditional love every day when walked through the door from work, from a trip/vacation, when we were sad, watched TV with us every night, would tell us when she was hungry and had to go pee/poo by sneezing at us, or even from a trip to the grocery store. She never nipped anyone or another dog, never growled or gnarled, was just a HUGE POOH BEAR, a loving heart with 4 feet. She started to pass in our house in her spot on our front bay window sill when I took her down in a panic and tried to revive her. She passes a few minutes later as I put her in my wife’s arms as we were getting in our car to rush her to the animal hospital. Exactly how SHE wanted to go!!!! WE will miss her dearly as those who have had this experience can empathize.

She is in a better place in Heaven now and we’ll shall be together again one day (hopefully much later in our life her on Earth).
