Fall Day, Tonight Mini Storm, Florence

Peeps,

Fall day indeed!! What relief from this oppressive humidity and heat.

Next week – could it be frost in NY State??

Tonight Pre party storm? There will be what is called a mesoscale storm that will ride the front that will park off the coast tonight through tomorrow and bring windy rainy condition along the coast and inland all due to remnants of Gordon who has been hanging about in the middle of America.

Rainfall amounts

Winds along coast 20 -30 mph

The drought is coming to an end. If you know of anyone living in the South Carolina, North Carolina and Southern Virginia coastal areas PLEASE TELL THEM TO START PREPARATIONS FOR FLORENCE and pray you don’t get her direct onslaught!!

The models are staring to zero in on this region but all coastal areas from South Carolina up through Long Island need to pay attention. Why?? Because she will churn the seas, cause beach erosion and possible tidal flooding.

Her course is not set in stone and will change – EURO bring her into Wilmington NC, GFS bring her into the outer Banks then stalls and moves up the coast to curve out by SNJ.

The fear of Virginia through NJ landfall that was being shown by models last week is very slim to nonexistent right now so we can breathe cause of the atmospheric (called) block was 200 – 300 miles more north than modelled/forecasted now we’d be in BIGGLLLY trouble. I MEAN BIGGLY!!

We are not out of the woods by any stretch and if the GFS is right we may be dealing with a moderate tropical storm or to a lesser extent a tropical depression. Moderate tropical storm would mean winds in the 40-50 mph range with rains in the 4-6” range, beaches would be damaged. Tropical depression 25-35 mph winds and rains upwards of 4” and beaches minor damage.

Wildcards at play – her timing, forward speed and intensity (strength). She will grow into  major hurricane of a Category 4 = 150 mph winds, severe damage and surge up to 9’ – European model was showing wave heights of up to 50’ YIKES!!!!!!!!

North Carolina strike looks to be it here

If she makes it into the Del Marva then he Jersey shore is in  trouble, if she goes into NC or even SC then we are spared.

Time will tell but ALL ALONG the SHORE NEED to have a PLAN just in case – we have seen very unforeseen changes with these storms. AGAIN those in NC and SC and VA need to start preparations.

Updates to come.
