Did something we rarely see as it intensified to a strong Tropical Strom as I said it would and then did what is termed as Brown Intensification. What does this mean you ask? Not the 1st time we have seen this with hcances.
Now he is moving fast up the Appalachians and torns and flash flooding are happened from the Carolinas to NY State. Expect some rains in NNJ from this tonight.

Now for what I have been tracking and posting about to friends in wx forums and through texts. This has some concern at this time due to the big blocking high pressure forecasted over Quebec and a fall like cold front that will sweep through the area Sunday. Timing is of the essence to capture this what should be hurricane of a CAT 1 possibly reaching CAT 2 level as it makes it way North. Where did it start? West of Bermuda and has been pushed SW so this is odd and not common but it’s our weather. DO NOT START WITH GW crap here….it has absolutely nothing to do with that.
So what can he do? Well he can go OTS if the HP (high pressure) is weaker, further west, the cold front is slower, not as strong and cannot capture and pull Henri to the coast or it can all align and the GSF, HMON, HWRF models all nail this. BUT the come has shifted 150 miles West so far and may not be far enough at this range. No not wishful thinking or wish casting but credible idea due to the latest model synoptic set up.

Winter on My Mind
Folks, you know I love winter right?! AS does Snow Queen and Princess and all my students since it is a day off from school when it happens.
As I said to many peeps over the last day’s winter is going to start fast and with a bang and maybe rough in the NE and Northern Tier as well as out West – too general well at this point that’s about all. Southern tier should fair warmer and drier.
It has started already in the mountains in Wyoming, I- D – A – HO, Big Sky of Montana the other night.

My top analogs for period Sept-Dec are 1989,1995,1998,2005 and 2010 a blend of following -IOD, -PDO, -QBO, La Nina and solar flux below 90. With IOD being forecast in the region of -0.8 it strongly correlates with precipitation in Indonesia and Australia, MJO phases 4-7 this autumn, if timing of MJo in these phases happens in November then its strong suggestion of -NAO.
