Peeps,

BUSTED for some areas

Boy did i bust for the Bergen County Region and Rockland for that matter. I think the combination of the highways and malls heat just put the kibosh on things here LOL! Well, if you looked at towards Morris County and west and Pompton Lakes and North as well as Northern Westchester Counties it verified and there many delayed openings – I said north of Paramus we wouldn’t see this? Not for the hinterland of NW NJ!!!!!!

Not Pretty

Uggh we go from 14* this morning to rain tomorrow and into Monday morning – this is a typical Ninaesque pattern where storms cut to our west and we are stuck in the warm sector. The promising pattern from a few days ago and most indicators that were showing such have really gone south and are at best mixed. Even some of the pros were basically caught by this sudden change. You ever notice that the change to warmth can happen on a frickin’ dime but to get cold it takes a series of changes? The changes have occurred 10’s of thousands of miles away in the Aussie region and Indian Ocean as well as the Himalayas!

The MJO going through phase 7 into 8 – see this is one of the indicators I look at for Long Range Forecasting is a good sign. The only problem is we are in a highly modulated (strong) phase 6 which is warmth if you can believe it and isn’t a good snow indicator pattern. Phase 8 is but we’ll have to wait to latter half of February for this to kick in. At this point we start to fight the sun angle and other atmospheric conditions but time will tell.

MJO map here is the convection of storms in the Indian Ocean, Western Pacific near and around Aussie land.

For us to have a full-fledged snowstorm from SROC on the NJ Strong Weather Forum here is what needs to be corrected. If not we’ll get front end snow to rain scenarios which to me is blah.

What was once an extremely promising look for February has turned into a so so look at this point. This week we have 2 other possible storms that we need to watch to see if we can get the track to be right. Have a great day.

Updates to come.
