As I stated in my Oct 20th post that we would be seeing Mr. Frosty and Freeze this week and wouldn’t you know they are coming to visit us in NNJ and the LHV – The ruburbs saw this already – NW NJ and HV peeps – maybe LI will get in this action well the pinelands area will for sure.
So what temps are we looking at? 30’s for our lows and daytime highs in the low 50’s with breezy conditions that will make it feel like the 40’s and 20’s in the mornings.
Thursday morning we may see some WHITE GOLLLDDDDDDD in NNJ and the LHV not in the City or LI at this time just too warm with the UHI there – Urban Heat Island and the island well it’s the island.
We shall be about Normal to below until Nov 2nd then we will see an old Native American Summer swing in AKA Indian summer with temps in the 60’s to possibly 70 degrees for a day or even two.

* IMPACTS…SENSITIVE OUTDOOR CROPS AND VEGETATION WHICH ARE NOT
PROTECTED COULD BE KILLED BY THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

A FREEZE WATCH MEANS BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE.
THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
Thursday Morning
WHITE GOLD ACCUMULATIONS – Thursday MORNING
NWNJ, NNJ, LHV and HV see white gold flakes with elevations seeing maybe some light accumulations on surfaces and as you move further north like up to I 84 country and north you will see accumulations.
Ski country will see a couple inches of white gold – beats the hell out of last season – well what season!!
November outlook
It looks like at this time we will have an above normal first week overall temperature wise then we shall be about normal for the second week and then things are looking to flip to below normal temps – could have a much colder second half of the month than the first. Looking at the possibility of some white gold on the ground by Turkey days the best holiday in the world yes it is. Why you ask? Cause we take a day where all Americans take a day and give thanks for what we all have not what we do not have or want. I am happy that the Mall of America announced last week that they will be close for Turkey day and not opening until 8AM on black Friday.
Winter Outlooks
My outlook will be released by Nov 12th if not sooner. I shall be compiling information and my write up will be inclusive as it was last year and the previous.
AO October parallel to Winter and its relationship to the NAO.
Okay the AO is the Arctic Oscillation and when this is Negative in the winter months it means cold air in the east. In the spring through fall it doesn’t mean squat as far as cold. The October AO if is Negative overall so this usually as history dictates that this woudl be the mean for teh winter which means the cold air will be in placed overall. The NAO is the North Atlantic Oscillation that if Negative locks in storms, slows down the flow, blocks the pattern and will lock in eh cold air. It is usually within the same range as the AO and this could be the holy grail we missed most of the past 4 -5 winters going back to 2010!

LIA – Little Ice Age? Say What? Read this article that was released by the Russian scientist last week that relates this possibility to the Maunder Minimum in the late 1600’s to mid-1700 – remember Hansel and Gretel?? This was the period of that famed story.

Start stockpiling the dry goods and firewood – Solar Minimum is on the very near horizon and these Rushkees are saying watch out snow lovers !!!!
