Review – Every good teacher does a review each class with your students somehow someway and since it is my 29th year in this very rewarding profession that I think I have down I will share with you my review:
Well the great AL Q Storm Birthday of 12-16/17 MAY NOT have lived up to snowfall expectations in your or my backyard (called for 12-18”) BUT MOTHER OF GOD 50-100 miles from NNJ got absolutely HAMMERED!

CENTRAL PARK NYC MEASURED ……10” – WOW!!!
The Low pressure system passed as far North as Point Pleasant and then was blocked like the O line for the old 1990-91 Giants O line (Remember that team??) due to the High Pressure System over Quebec that was stronger than modelled. So what happened? Pure and simple it gained latitude further in the last 24 hours before the storm and brought the deadly dry slot with it which happens in every coastal storm. So around 10PM until about 1AM we were dry slotted so we have very light precipitation and actually had a change over to sleet for many in NNJ and NYC during this time frame. Then as the storm pulled away the cold air rushed back in and changed us back over to all snow. Here in H’dale it snowed until about 11AM.
Areas about 50-150 miles away from us in the NYC Metro got clammed because there was no dry slot and they just poured snow. Even further away they got OBLITERATED with 3-4’ – Guerci Land – Rich and Carol, and Sarah M up in Albababany (Just made that up LOL!) She texted me, was a fav student and athlete of mine as is her bros Will, Fudge and the Bayou Brawler (not really) James!, and said have fun shoveling all that snow – then in a matter of 12 hours BAM! She received 24” – 27” .

Upcoming active cold pattern – Sunday Night? Tuesday? Xmas? New Years?
Peeps no rest for the weary as we have a very active pattern upcoming with some small but refreshing possible snow events.
Sunday Night and again Tuesday BUT each storm really depends on the other. So Monday system we want to be a tad stronger and off the coast as is now being shown to a degree. This will drag the cold air in and take what we call the heights field off the coast – storm like to follow each other and this height field.
Snnday night Coating to .5″ possible at this time
GFS is a little stronger – good to see
IF we can have this – believe me I am trying to will this – then it may just set up a Tuesday light snow event and then…..wait for it…….a……snow event Xmas Eve after a very strong cold front with rain switched over to snow into Xmas morning!!!!!
Then again Dec 27-Jan 1st – we may see a bigger storm then – and longer term a few Nor’easters in January as the pattern is setting up.
Buckle up peeps going to be a bust few weeks! Updates to come.
